KOSOVO CELEBRATE 6TH INDEPENDENCE DAY AT SWISSOTEL

On 17 February of 2008, Republic of Kosovo declared to be an independent state and on Monday celebrated the 6th year of its independency by a reception hosted by Ambassador of Kosovo Avni Spahiu and his wife Sebahate at Ankara Swissotel.
While the Government was represented by Minister of Development Cevdet Yilmaz the Government of Kosovo was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri. Also General Staff Land Forces Commander Hulusi Akar, AK party Istanbul Deputy Gulay Dalyan, AK Party Izmir Deputy and President of the Balkan Center for Strategic Studies Rifat Sait, AK Party Bursa Deputy Mustafa Kemal Şerbetçioğlu, Deputy Director General for the Balkans and Central Europe Ilhan Saygılı, were among the big crowd of distinguished guests.
The event also hosted some celebrities like the ex-president of Fenerbahçe team and famous singer Metin Şen along with ambassadors of Albania, Vatican, United Kingdom, Korea, Jordan, Afghanistan, Colombia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Finland and Norway. Also DHOMs of Kuwait, Japan, Hundary, Montenegro, Croatia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, South Sudan and the United States were among the guests.
The surprise guest of the event was Selma Argon, granddaughter of the Turkish National Anthems poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy.
Hundreds of guests gathered in the Anatolian Hall of the hotel enjoyed the folk dance groups performance and songs until the late hours of the night.
