The experienced Ambassador of Egypt to the Republic of Turkey Abderahman Selaheldin and his graceful wife Thoraya left Ankara. Ambassador Selaheldin and Thoraya were one of the most popular members of the Diplomatic Corps in Ankara and had been serving in the country since March 2010.
A bitter row over Egypts August crackdown on Morsi's supporters led Ankara and Cairo to recall their envoys. Turkish ambassador returned to Egypt in September, however, the Egyptian Ambassador Selaheldin remained in the African country.
On November 23, Egypt expelled the Turkish envoy and downgraded ties to the level of charge d'affaires. Cairo also said that it would not send its envoy back to Ankara. Ankara also made similar decision later in the day, declaring Egyptian ambassador to Ankara Abderahman Selaheldin persona non grata and downgraded diplomatic relations.
However, Ambassador Selaheldin returned to his country as Deputy Foreign Minister.
Ankara Scene wishes Ambassador Selaheldin and Thoraya continued success and a long, healthy and prosperous life with their sons Khaleed and Waleed.
