The Future of Healthcare
14 January 2011 Friday 07:48
Today, many innovative healthcare products make our lives easier when it comes to informing healthcare professionals about our health status on a timely manner. Many small devices aid us send our vitals to doctors and many others let our nurses know the outcomes of our ongoing treatments. These devices can even transmit data right off our veins to our doctor’s computer.
However, the future of healthcare will be more than bluetooth medical devices. Our health status will be checked up by designated centers even while we are walking in the streets or eating at restaurants or even while we are swimming in the sea. We will be all be monitored not by family doctors but e-doctors, we will not get prescriptions but medication right on time via courier.
We will be texted what to eat and what not to, how to exercise and how not to, will be warned if our stress or blood sugar level increases, will be rewarded if we are in perfect shape because our mobile devices will be recording our body mass index on a regular basis.
We will be steered to any healthcare facility to get tests run of which results be seen by our primary e-doctor in seconds with a medical advice in our mobile device almost simultaneously. We will get the same for our children or elderly. So basically we will receive healthcare without even noticing it.
Another innovative aspect of future healthcare will be advanced robotic surgery. We will get our surgeries done under the most advanced imaging devices while our bodies are invaded via tiny holes letting advance robotic arms in to operate. There will not be any artificial prosthesis; all will be invitro organic organs and tissues. By this way we will get back to our normal life within a day or two without any pain or physical constraint.
We will be screened by high tech imaging equipment for cancer, cardiac problems and pregnancy. Diseases like cancer, heart failures, obesity, Parkinson, Alzheimer and many more will be rarely seen diseases. Genetic researches will even make it possible to be born disease free. What’s more, side effects of any unhealthy food will be offsetted by new medical innovations, our metabolism will be regulated by external aids, our brain will be kept off stress and as said earlier our genes will be modified to be disease and disability free.
Those who prefer to stay away from modern life will not get any of these goodies. Everything will change for those who stick to those new gadgets except the fact that it is not how long and healthy we live, but how good and caring we live…
